In 1920's, Mr. Mustafa TELLİ from Kastamonu - Inebolu - Gemiciler (Evrenye) köyü, started to shipping sector with wooden sail boats, which were taken over from his father. Canister tins of liquid fuel/petroleum products were delivered to the coastal cities of Black Sea.

Within this period, in 1953 Mr. Mustafa TELLİ's youngest son Mr. Kemal TELLİ, who is now became Turkish Maritime Sector’s well-known and respected pioneer, joined to his father and started to improve the family business also with his successful navigational education. In 1974, Turkey’s first sheet-iron-made tanker M/T Merzifon is built by Mr. Kemal TELLİ.

In 1961, family members established their first official company. In that period, up to 10 modern small tanker vessels between the tonnages 1.000 – 6.000 DWTs added to the fleet and for that years Turkey’s one of the top listed Turkish flag-fleet is constituted.

In 1982 "Kalyon Shipping", in 1992 "Kemal Telli Tanker Ownership" companies are established and joined to the group by Mr. Kemal TELLİ. Entire family members' joint firm groups had been dealing with both petroleum and dry bulk transportation in which bulk transportation is being in the lead till mid 1980's. After this period in 1993 and 2001, some family members are divided up with mutually sharing other certain companies and vessels. We are as Kalyon Shipping and Trading Co. Inc. after departing, continued dealing mainly with petroleum and chemical transportation with our own tanker fleet.
